The best food in Charlottesville, hands down. I've traveled all around the country and rarely do you have such great dishes in conjunction with fantastic service. It was a pleasure, and one of the few restaurants in Charlottesville that I will definitely return to again and again.

We were excited to try the place out before catching show at Vinegar Hill. Menu looked fantastic, but we could not have been more disappointed! The main entrees are served over tasteless polenta mash that is completely devoid of any structure or seasoning and a single piece of soggy broccoli. In addition to the absolute lack of flavor and insultingly small portion size our plates were cold and the food was barely room temperature. Wine list was OK, but nothing compared to comparably priced restaurants in town. All in all it was a big waste of $65 and a total let down. We won’t go back.

Went during Restaurant Week 2010. The ambiance is lovely and the food met my high expectations for Mediterranean food. Pasta was well made and well seasoned and the main entrees were even better. The wood roasted pork loin stuffed with wild fennel, garlic and braised shoulder was tender and flavorful. The wood grilled natural chicken breast with blond figs, prosciutto, rosemary and honey had the right balance of sweet and savory. The homemade chocolate biscotti with salted pistachio ice cream was a wonderfully light way to end the meal. There is 1 minor thing that bothered me during the dinner; the server's assistant kept coming back to our table every 4-5 minutes to check on us. I know it's her job but she should do it less often.
