I stopped in BRP on the way back to Cville after dining near Wintergreen. I got pulled pork to go and planned to have it for dinner. I was surprised at what I got. The BBQ was REAL greasy and the sauce was slimey. I had eaten at BRP years before and it was very good. What happened to the good stuff? After that last experience, I am not going back.

Not that great and overpriced and out of the way. If you have to eat in Nellysford, I guess it's OK. But there are better choices for barbecue closer to Cville. Don't take credit cards either.

Good but inconsistent. I've had really good BBQ there and then average BBQ there, it just depends on the day.

I've been a huge fan of another local barbeque establishment for years, and still am, but I was with the family last weekend near Wintergreen, and we stopped in at the Blue Ridge Pig. The food was really very tasty -- barbecue pork, barbecue chicken, and real smoked turkey. Sides and limeade were also very good. However, the place was more "rustic" than my wife would have liked.

I've never had a barbeque sandwich where they were able to infuse so much smokey flavor even with the sauce on it. Well worth the drive. Only Pit Stop Barbeque comes close in Charlottesville area. A+

Strawberry does a good job. He definitely looks the part. But BBQ is definitely average.Great smoke but no seasoning. Good bbq starts with a good rub., slow cooking then a sauce that compliments it. Atmosphere is excellent.Great smoke house.

Awesome BBQ pork and beef (make sure to get the slaw on the sandwich)... well worth the trip... I took pints of the sauces, beans, slaw and potato salad home to spend more time determining the ingredients, so that I can try to replicate. There were all kinds of folks there the day I made the trek, from seniors to bikers to yuppies. This told me that the stuff is good, which was confirmed by the tasting. Best 'cue I had by a long shot during my trip to VA.

On a weekend at Wintergreen my wife and I hit the Blue Ridge Pig. We enjoyed it. The BRP's ribs were great and the spicy, mustardy sauce was fantastic. The potato salad drizzled with pesto oil was imaginative and delicious. The baked beans with pulled pork in them were really good too. The only thing we didn't like was the incessant coughing of the two very nice young girls who were preparing the food. But the food was great.

Simply the best BBQ on the planet, hands down. I have eaten BBQ all over the country but the BRP is the real deal. When God orders out BBQ he calls the BRP.

This BBQ is very different from others I've had. I didn't really care for it much, as I prefer the more traditional tomato/vinegar style sauces. It was a little too spicy, for my taste, as well. Remember to bring your own soda, since they only offer lemonade, limeade and iced tea (strange). As far as cleanliness, it was definitely below my standards, and I have no problem eating dirty water dogs off of a hot dog cart in New York City.

This BBQ is very mediocre at best. It is pulled dry pork with this thick suffocating weirdo sauce that I cannot figure out. The baked beans are diffrent but good and the potato salad is very good. But the Q is less to be desired. I was hoping and expecting some vinegar base North Carolina style Q, but when hungty from skiing all day and after a few beers from the lodge it is very filling and can hit that empty spot. Their catering prices are through the roof. Like 21.00 something a person.

This place is outstanding. We got take out for 6 and it was heaven! The sauce is different - more mustard than tomato based, but it gives it a tangy tart taste. The potato salad, beans and cole slaw are fantastic - very different from your run of the mill recipes.. If you are a true southerner, like myself, you will love the quaintness of the place - and ISN'T "filthy" - just country. But if you are "city folk" - it probably will be "icky" to you. Best 'Cue I have had since living in Virginia (22 years) !!

I have had a tough time finding a good BBQ sandwich in C'ville. The Blue Ridge Pig is the best I have had around here. The pork is smoked out back. The sauce is unique, not your typical VA tomato based sauce. It has a more smokey flavor, more of what I would call a VA mountain sauce. The potato salad and baked beans are also unique and delicious. Make sure you have cash or check. If you are like most people I know and have been displeased with the BBQ in C'ville, I recommend making the drive to give the Blue Ridge Pig a try. They also serve ribs and will sell the BBQ by the pint for you to take home.
