this has been recommended to me by several friends, and wow, it exceeded expectation. Everything was so fresh and well-prepared, and service was attentive without being overbearing. Just an excellent experience.

Fresh vegetables and wonderful cooking. The food is somewhat compromised when they are busy (happening frequently as of late) so I would suggest you go on a week night. We have been going almost weekly, cerainly monthly, for as long as they have been here.

My husband doesn't like Thai food, but I still talked him into eating at Lime Leaf. He loved it so much that he asks to go back all the time! We love the spring rolls.

It's one of the few restaurants that will serve soft tofu, not the deep fried, premade stuff. Lots of vegan/vegetarian options.

It took several visits before the staff & chef could comprehend just how HOT we like our food, but now that they have, we enjoy it very much. Service isn't great, but the food is priced well, presented well, and tasty.

The curry was very sweet and the noodles were greasy. Service was terrible- we had about 5 different waiters and no one was on the same page.

The food is pretty good, better than most Thai in C-Ville, but the service isn't and we have waited for a VERY long time to get our food. Might go back if I'm in the neighborhood but who wants to drive up 29 for food usually?

Food is below average and no where near authentic. We went twice and tried to order spring rolls, both times they were out. Charlottesville is severely lacking in quality restaurants.

Lime Leaf has nice amosphere, good services. We ordered two dishes, one is something fried rice, it's tasty. The other one is xxx noddle, has a wired smell that I don't like much. I guess this Thai restraurant is using many different spices, sometimes is just not easy for new customers to pick one. Try your luck.

And a fried rice costs over 10 bucks is a little bit expensive, but it's tasty anyway, would probally go again.

The food here is wonderful. One of the best Thai restaurants in Charlottesville.

Recommendations:

Stuffed Chicken WIngs or the Satay for appteizer.

the Pad See Ew or Pad Thai for Entree

Sticky Rice with Mango or the Banana Roll for Dessert

Had a wonderful lunch there. Food was fresh, vegetables still had some life to them and were not overcooked or limp like other places. Atmosphere is not the greatest, but I would definitely return.

Bland, almost flavourless, seemingly way-oversalted food. For example, the papaya salad had no flavour except for the occasional peanut and didn't appear to have any papaya in it; its "spicey dressing" with one red pepper denoting some heat was neither spicey nor hot; it had zero flavour. Not remotely like the food I have had in Thailand. Very disappointing given the enthusiastic reviews. Friendly service.

Excellent Thai food using what I assume are authentic recipes (they don't seem to be Americanized). Service is always friendly and the food is less expensive (and usually better) than the other Thai restaurants in town.

Great food for the price.

Atmosphere is nice if there are not too many people.
Seems like the place is taking off and its getting more and more crowded.

Most dishes are great. Try the Fried Tofu appetizer, had tasty dipping sauce.
Also something to try is their Peanut Sauce dishes.

Not good if you like "Thai Hot". Dry spices and black pepper was overdone instead of using fresh chilis as in true Thai dishes. Also, the base in the Tom Yum Goong was overdone. My son loved the mild Lad Nah which indicates that the food, done for the typical American palate is probably excellent.

I do find some Americanization as Fried Calamari IS NOT Asian. It is a typical Asian chain, nothing too imaginitive. Service was uncoordinated as I was asked if I would like more water at least five times in two minutes.

I was disappointed with the food on my second trip to LL. I ordered Pad Thai and I thought the noodles were gummy and food was served lukewarm at best. It was lunchtime and the place was almost full but still...

My first trip was good, but not outstanding or great as others raved here.

We have been to Lime Leaf at least 6 times since it first opened earlier this year. It probably best the Thai food in town, really very good by any standard. The food is easily worth a 5 compared to other restaurants rated here as 4. The decor is quite nice, nicer than comparable (e.g. Asian) restaurants in town. The service is very good, very attentive. The value is a little less than other Thai restaurants because there are no lunch bargains, no coupons, etc. But the top-notch quality, decor and service make is worth the few extra dollars you are likely to spend at Lime Leaf.

As for convenience, it is in the same shopping center as Krogers, Dicks, Blockbuster, Play it Again Sports, Crutchfield, and several other good stores.

BTW, I think that there ARE other good Thai restaurants in town.

"awesome" is a little strong if you're a big fan of thai food like i am -- but this certainly is the only good (or edible, for that matter) thai food available in charlottesville. the restaurant itself is cheery and the staff has always been gracious. dishes are on the sweet side, but portions are generous and everything i've had has been tasty.

This is easily my favorite restaurant of all time in Charlottesvile. The prices are standard for good Thai food, and the food is to die for. The Pad Thai is my favorite, and the wonton soup is the best I've ever had. The food is fresh and delicious. The service is very friendly, but not the fastest. I'm willing to wait a little while longer for this amazing food!

The staff is extremely nice, but the service was slow. The pad Thai was cold--and you know what that does to rice noodles. The price was higher than usual in CHO, so I expected more. My husband's dish was blend. I real surprise for us. We loved the decour and ambiance!

We went recently after reading good things here. We were not disappointed.

The location is odd (between Kroger and Dick's sporting goods), but shouldn't deter you. The food is well made and the staff friendly and attentive.

The food, while not terribly innovative, was well made and as (if not more) authentic than the other places in town. I'd recommend the green curry (who wouldn't) and fish cakes in particular.

I am one of the lucky ducks who lives within Lime Leaf's delivery radius. I discovered them through a friend and now they recognize my voice over the phone. They hooked me with flawless Chicken Satay; it's cooked perfectly and so full of flavor, I'm always a little sad when I realize it's my last bite. The Tofu/Green Curry is actually spicy (as in, hot AND flavorful)! It was full of an array of FRESH vegetables that were all obviously cut by hand. The Thai tea is scrumptious. And the wonderful staff... oh, well you should really just go see for yourself.

Lime Leaf is a welcome addition to Charlottesville's restaurant scene and worthy of the high marks it's receiving. My wife and I tried it last night and had a great time. My green curry with seafood was spicy, fresh and very flavorful. Even so, my wife's pad thai was better - a terrific dish. We tried the fried calamari for starters, and even though it wasn't hot, it was still good. The hot green tea was delicious, though - aromatic and earthy. Chef-owner Rungrote Rattanakul's restaurant is bright, clean and fun. He's also an artist, and the acryclics on the walls are his work. Slide into a booth and check out the well-designed menu. You'll be pleased and only more so when the food actually hits the table. Highly recommended.

This is it, the first time I have ever given straight 5's. The food was a authentic and tasty as when I was in Thailand. They make their own coconut milk from scratch, none of the canned thick stuff. Light, fresh, clean, polite, fed a family of six with tax, tip for under $65. (No dessert, but we took home leftovers and were stuffed.) No you can't eat Thai everyday but when you want Thai this is the only place to go right now.

Ate here yesterday for the 1st time. Noticed the place because of the relatively large crowd eating inside. Small, nice decor, very friendly wait staff. Linen napkins but yet my Tofu/Vegetarian Green Curry entree was only $7.95. Fried Calamari w/ Chil Sauce appetizer was very good. Entree was perfectly prepared. Will be going back soon.
